Standing at the threshold of 2025, we’re reminded of an ancient Roman tradition that still resonates today. The Romans honored Janus, their God of Doorways and Transitions, whose two faces embodied the wisdom of reflecting on the past while boldly stepping into the future. Like Janus, we at VivaSpot are taking this moment to look back at 2024 – a year that tested the restaurant & hospitality industry’s resilience but also revealed unprecedented opportunities for growth through digital connection.

 For some of us, good riddance to 2024 – a tough year in the restaurant & hospitality industry – due to high prices and inflation.  According to the latest report from Nation’s Restaurant News Intelligence – 55% of of restaurant operators surveyed said their number one priority for 2025 is increasing foot traffic.

 Vivaspot merchants crushed it with their traffic and data collection.  Here are some interesting statistics for the past year.

In  2024 our merchants acquired over 2.5 emails, mobile numbers, birthdates, First names and customer feedback.  93.2% of the emails captured were legitimate.  We did also capture some clever concepts, like yourmama@aol.com, poopy@gmail.com and of course the ever creative eat@me.com.

In addition, merchants created customized Wifi Experiences that drove customers to follow the merchant on social media, download their rewards app or leave feedback, before the customer connected to the Internet.  They turned their WiFi into a powerful marketing machine.

We also captured important traffic and demographic data for our merchant customers that improved their target marketing and increased their foot traffic.
